New Delhi, June 28 (IANS): Former Foreign Minister Salman Khurshid condemned the Udaipur incident and said the crime was most heinous and no religion condoned it.
“The killing in Udaipur is the most heinous and regrettable, no matter how provocatively assumed. We cannot allow our nation to be torn apart in this inhuman way. No religion condones the killing of human beings . Let us reaffirm the positivity of the faith,” Khurshid said.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also said brutality in the name of religion cannot be tolerated.
“I am deeply shocked by the heinous murder in Udaipur. Brutality in the name of religion cannot be tolerated. Those who sow terror through this cruelty must be punished immediately,” Rahul Gandhi tweeted in reaction to the incident. ‘Udaipur.
Calling for peace, he added in the same tweet in Hindi: “We must all defeat hate together. I call on everyone, please keep peace and brotherhood.”
A tailor was beheaded on Tuesday in broad daylight in Udaipur, Rajasthan, by two perpetrators for allegedly supporting suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma on social media.
The two attackers also recorded the incident on camera and said in another video post that they took revenge for an insult to Islam. However, they were later arrested by the police.
Congress Secretary General Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also condemned the terrible incident in Udaipur. She said condemnation is not enough for this incident.
