Hoshangabad (Madhya Pradesh): The tribal society has played an important role in preserving Indian culture, Union Minister of State for Steel and Rural Development Faggan Singh Kulaste said on Wednesday.
He made the statement at a reception held in the Babai district of the district to celebrate the 497th anniversary of the birth of Queen Durgawati.
Large numbers of people from different parts of the neighborhood attended on occasion.
The central government and the state government are committed to protecting the rights of indigenous peoples, Kulaste said.
Each person, belonging to the tribal community, will receive Rs 20 lakh instead of Rs 10 lakh, if moved for a development project, Kulaste said.
On top of that, there will be efforts to provide them with jobs in private companies, he added.
A building to organize the cultural events of the tribal society will be constructed in Hoshangabad at a cost of Rs 25 lakh, the minister said.
The nation should take inspiration from the legends of Durgawati and work for the country, Kulaste added.
As the erosion of the Tawa River has affected farmers, pitching will be done in the stream to control erosion, Kulaste said, adding that drinking water will be provided through pipelines in areas dominated by tribes.
According to Kulaste, those eligible will receive housing under the Prime Minister’s housing program.
MP Rao Udai Pratap Singh said tribal people have benefited from social protection programs launched by central government and state government and have started to move forward.
The government has always cared about the well-being of tribal people, whether it is land or displacement, he said.
The MP further said the government is committed to providing roads, electricity, houses, education and other facilities to the tribes.
Lawmaker Vijay Pal Singh said efforts would be made to promote the welfare of tribal people and provide them with better conditions in the event of displacement.
The tribes presented a cultural event. Singh gave 10,000 rupees each to four artists from his MP’s fund for the presentation of a beautiful cultural event.
Maya Narolia, Madhav Das Agarwal, retired deputy commissioner of BS Partel cooperatives, Gaurav Salam, Shakti Singh Markam and others were present at the function.
