Pawar saheb, you engage in hateful politics of caste and religion : Raj Thackeray

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) President Raj Thackeray shot Nationalist Congress Party leader Sharad Pawar while addressing a massive rally in Aurangabad, Maharashtra on Sunday.

He said, “Sharad Pawar says we are against the country. Pawar saheb you are doing caste and religion hatred politics.”

Raj Thackeray has accused Sharad Pawar of dividing Maharashtra according to castes over a book written by James Lane on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

“Pawar said that the British writer wrote false and derogatory things about Shivaji Maharaj based on information provided by Shiv Shahir Babasaheb Purandare, a Brahmin. Later, in an India Today interview, the author clarified that he had not spoken to Purandare,” he told the rally.

“BAD PHASE IN MAHARASHTRA”

Speaking on Maharashtra Day in Aurangabad, Raj Thackeray also said politics in the state is going through “a bad phase”.

“Aurangzeb wrote a letter about Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj – that Shivaji was a great leader. We forgot that story. It was our Maharashtra. Today we see the situation – they speak against Maharashtra, make politics,” he said.

ON THE SPEAKERS LINE

On the row of controversial speakers, Raj Thackeray said all loudspeakers in mosques in Maharashtra are to be removed by May 4. Otherwise, the Hanuman Chalisa will be played at “double power” in front of mosques, he threatened.

Raj Thackeray said: “Eid is May 3. I don’t want to spoil the festivities. But we won’t listen after May 4th. We will play Hanuman Chalisa with double power if our demands are not met. If you don’t understand our request, we’ll deal with it our way. I will not be silent from May 4th. If the loudspeakers are not removed by then, let me show you the strength of Maharashtra.”
