This was highlighted by the Deputy Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Veena Bhatnagar during the Hindi Divas – Kavi Sammelan at the Swami Vivekanda Cultural Center.
The event was organized by the Indian High Commission to mark Hindi Language Day, celebrated annually on September 14.
Bhatnagar says she is delighted to hear that Kavi Sammelan and Hindi Day celebrations are also being held as a preparatory event for the upcoming World Conference on Hindi in India as a National Language.
She said she was glad to know that the Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama, welcomed the idea of Fiji hosting the World Hindi Conference in 2023 during a meeting with India’s External Affairs Minister in Bali there ago. some months.
Bhatnagar also says that language is intrinsic to the expression of culture and the Indians taken under the covenant have preserved their culture very well in Fiji.
She thanked the organizers for including Hindi speaking poets from all over Fiji who were present at the event and had the opportunity to share and recite some of their poems.
Bhatnagar also contributed by reciting a poem she wrote herself especially for the event.
She also thanked the Indian government for its continued support to the Fijian people through diplomatic relations and congratulated them on 75 years of independence.
The Kavi Sammelan was also part of the ongoing celebrations to commemorate 75 years of Indian independence.
