On Saturday, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma washed the feet of senior BJP officials and shared the video on his social media account. CM Biswa Sarma said showing respect to senior citizens is a cornerstone of BJP tradition and he is honored to have washed the feet of senior officials.
In the video, the chief minister is seen sitting on the ground and washing a leader’s feet, then wiping them with an old piece of cloth. The chief minister also asked for the chief’s blessing by touching his feet.

In a tweet, CM Biswa Sarma said: “Showing respect to the elderly, a philosophy of Indian culture, is the cornerstone of our party’s tradition.”
“Honored to have washed the feet of our respected senior BJP officials whose immense contributions have helped to strengthen the base of our party in early Assam,” he added.

The occasion on Saturday was the inauguration of a new party office in Guwahati for which Union Home Minister Amit Shah and party chairman JP Nadda reached the state.

The six-storey building, built on an area of one lakh square feet, will have state-of-the-art facilities, as well as a guesthouse and a modern media center. The building can accommodate 5,000 people. The new structure, valued at Rs 25 crore, was built with donations from party workers.
